Sanliurfa Museum

The museum complex contains historical artifacts from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages. These artifacts include the Balıklıgöl Statue, which is the oldest known statue in the world, and historical artifacts belonging to Göbeklitepe and Nevali Öri. Edessa Mosaic Museum exhibits mosaics unearthed in archaeological excavations there and the Orpheus Mosaic, which was smuggled to the USA in the 1950s and brought to Turkey by the Ministry of Culture in 2012. The museum also has a multi-purpose promotion center, amphitheater, souvenir sections, recreation area and an outdoor and indoor parking lot for 750 vehicles. In terms of its location, it is almost opposite Balıklıgöl. The 3rd It received the best museum award in Turkey at the 3rd ükurova Tourism Awards. All spaces in the structure, which includes units such as restaurants, workshops and a multi-purpose hall outside the museum, are accessed from the inner courtyard. The mass was formed by the facades and roof of an abstract square prism with a courtyard, leaning against the urban texture of Urfa. In other words, the urban texture of Urfa was processed into the building shell covered with local Urfa stone in the mass, aiming to create an original building identity.
