It is located right next to Şanlıurfa Museum, the largest museum in Turkey. It was found during infrastructure work by Şanlıurfa Municipality. It was completely unearthed in archaeological excavations later. The area where the mosaics were found was built to include Roman villas. Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum is also home to the only mosaic depicting female Amazon warriors mentioned in mythology. The mosaics depict hunting scenes of Amazon women, some animals and people. The mosaics depicting the warrior Amazon Queens are considered to be among the world's first examples. Experts describe them as the world's most valuable mosaics due to their mosaic technique, art, and the fact that they are made of original stones from the Euphrates River with a size of 4 square millimeters.
